We all live in a busy world. Day in and day out, we hurry by, rushing from one place to another, starting another task upon finishing one. However, once in a while (hopefully often enough), we ought to slow down and observe the world around us. The fascinating things you can find will amaze you and put a smile on your face. Here are ten natural phenomena that you won’t even believe they existed.


 10. Light Pillars

An optical phenomenon formed by the reflection of sunlight or moonlight by ice crystals that are present in the Earth’s atmosphere. The light pillar looks like a thin column that extends vertically above the source of light. They have been known to produce false UFO reports.


 9. Bioluminescent waves on a beach in the Maldives

Various species of phytoplankton are known to bioluminesce; when washed ashore by the tides, their chemical energy is turned into light energy.

 7. Sailing stones in Death Valley, USA

A geological phenomenon where rocks move and inscribe long tracks along a smooth valley floor without human or animal intervention.

6.  Murmurations: Huge flocks of up to 50,000 starlings form in areas of the UK just before sundown during mid-winter.

The eastern North American population is notable for its southward late summer/autumn migration from the USA and Canada to Mexico, covering thousands of kilometers.


 3.  The Catumbo Lightning

It is an atmospheric phenomenon in Venezuela. It occurs only over the mouth of the Catatumbo River where it empties into Lake Maracaibo during 140 to 160 nights a year, 10 hours per night and up to 280 times per hour.
